TOP 5 COSMETIC PROCEDURES FOR MEN 2010

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons has released the 2010 Plastic Surgeries Statistics Report. Included in this report is a list of many different statistics including most common cosmetic procedures for both men and women. Since there is a rising trend in male plastic surgery, we highlight the top 5 cosmetic choices they made in 2010.

Rhinoplasty: This nose reshaping procedure was performed on 64,000 males last year. Although this is actually a 4% decrease from the previous year, this procedure is still ranked in the number one spot. Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure used to alter the shape and size of the nose to improve the overall appearance of a person’s face. Since the nose takes center stage on the face, it is understandable as to why this is so popular!

Eyelid Surgery: Opposite of nose surgery, this procedure increased by 4% in 2010 compared to 2009 statistics, totaling to 31,000 male eyelid cosmetic operations. Blepharoplasty, also known as eyelid surgery, removes of excess eyelid skin and fat. Most patient’s result in a well rested and more youthful appearance.

Liposuction: This surgery places in third with a total of 24,000 male enhancements in 2010. Liposuction is used for stubborn areas that are resistant to diet and exercise. Most often it is due to genetics and may be impossible to get rid of with out the assistance of surgery. There are many areas that liposuction can be performed such as the chin, abdomen, hips, thighs, buttocks and more.

Breast Reduction: Gynecomastia is the medical term for abnormal breast development in males. It can occur in one or both sides of the breast as a result of extra fat and/or tissue. Excessive breast development in males is a relatively common condition, affecting 40 to 60 percent of boys and men. In 2010 there were 18,000 men reported who selected surgical removal to obtain a more masculine physique.

Hair Transplantation: 13,000 male patients when through a hair transplantation procedure. There are many different ways to restore hair loss, however this procedure is not performed by Dr. Alexander.
