Q: Is there a permanent resolution for forehead and eye wrinkles?

A: Most people are familiar with botox cosmetic and its temporary treatment for forehead wrinkles. Botox is typically injected in the horizontal region of the forehead, the frown line area, and around "crow's feet" at the lateral aspect of the eye. Botox can last anywhere from 3 to 6 months. It does slow the aging process down, but to avoid a series of multiple injections, some ask for a more permanent solution. To obtain long lasting results a plastic surgery procedure called a browlift will smooth the forehead and elevate the brows just slightly for a more refreshed appearance. This procedure enhances the upper portion of your face and can be combined with other facial augmentations such as a facelift, or eyelid surgery  for further improvement.

Q: Is there any way to make my eyebrows more arched?

A: Sometimes men and women may experience that their eyebrows have lost shape over time, or are beginning to sit lower on their face. If there is a considerable amount of droop, or ptosis, of the eyebrows, a forehead browlift can help achieve an uplift in the position. At the time of a browlift surgery, Dr. Alexander can restore the arch back to your eyebrows while maintaining a natural aesthetic balance. If you are young and the eyebrows are still in good position, then botox can give a subtle improvement to the shape of the eyebrow specifically in the lateral aspect.

Q: What are the benefits of eyelid surgery?

A: Blepharoplasty, also known as eyelid surgery, can dramatically reduce the appearance of upper saggy eyelids and under-eye bags. The area surrounding the eyes can sometimes create a tired, droopy look, which can be improved with eyelid surgery. As an added benefit, the procedure can also help with vision problems associated with relaxed eyelid skin and muscles. The incision runs along the natural fold in the upper lid and hides within the bottom eyelash contour.
