Dr. Alexander & Co. goes RED!

Tuesday, February 1st, 2011, 9:20 pm

February is the second and shortest month of the calendar year with a long list of celebrations. For some it may mean it is time to start planning a date with a friend or loved one for Valentine’s Day. Others consider it a month to celebrate their heritage during American and Black History Month. It is also a time to honor our past on president’s day, enjoy the present rooting for a  football team during the super bowl, and being proactive about our future with heart disease awareness. This February, Dr. Alexander and staff will be supporting the American Heart Association, Go Red for Women.

Go Red for Women is the Heart Foundation’s campaign to raise awareness about risks, prevention, and battle against the leading killer in women, heart disease. Go Red for Women aims to educate our society that heart disease is not just a disease for men, but for women as well, to encourage women to learn more about heart disease, and to raise funds towards their research program.  Together we can continue to reduce cardiovascular disease in women by building global attention and commitment.

The American Heart Association adopted the red dress symbol to create synergy among all organizations committed to fighting this cause. This Friday, February 4th has been recognized as National Wear Red day to support the Go Red for Women campaign. With energy, passion and power, make it your mission to wipe out heart disease and stroke.
