Breast Asymmetry & Plastic Surgery
Breast asymmetry is more the rule rather than the exception as 100% of women experience differences between their left and right breast. In our practice we sometimes refer to them as sisters, not twins. The degree to which they differ may vary, but women may notice dissimilarity in size, shape, nipple location, or all three. It may affect the entire breast mound or just the nipples. Everyone is unique and that is why Las Vegas Plastic Surgeon Dr. Alexander takes measurements and tailors your surgical recommendations to meet your specific breast anatomy.
Breast Augmentation or Breast Reduction procedures may help with adjusting size differences. Through augmentation you can add saline or silicone implant to just one or both breasts to create more volume symmetry. For example, a patient has one breast that is an A cup and another that is a C cup. The patient likes the fullness of the larger breast and decides to add an implant into the smaller one to match. If the patient would like both breasts to be larger, adding two different sized implants may be a better option. A breast reduction procedure will do just the opposite. It reduces breast size and helps enhance symmetry. This may benefit a patient who has one breast around a D cup and another DD cup. She may benefit with a reduction if she would like one or both breasts to be smaller and possibly more uplifted.
Many women also experience more subtle differences that they may not even be aware of until they are measured at their consultation appointment. Sometimes those little asymmetries are better when they are left alone to avoid excessive procedures and incisions. Meet with Dr. Alexander to discuss the best surgical enhancement for you.
