Breast Procedures

Dr. George Alexander is a board-certified plastic surgeon and breast surgery specialist with over 20 years of experience. He has been providing excellent plastic surgery results to his patients throughout that time.

Cosmetic breast surgeries can help women who are dissatisfied with their current chest appearance. Whether you are unhappy with your breast size, shape, projection, or position, Dr. Alexander is the breast surgeon who can help you achieve a more ideal breast appearance.

To determine if one or more of the following breast procedures will fulfill your needs, schedule a consultation with Dr. Alexander.

Breast Implant Removal With Lift

Breast implant removal with lift allows patients to remove their breast implants and treat the resulting sagging skin and tissue. Women may choose to remove their implants for cosmetic reasons (changing their appearance) or medical reasons (complications with their implants). In either case, a breast lift will help the breasts appear perky and youthful.

Patients can usually return to work within a week or two following their breast implant removal.

The results of a breast lift after implant removal can last for many years.

Breast Lift

Breast lift surgery lifts sagging breasts higher on the chest and secures them to reduce the effects of age on your breasts. Breasts sag naturally over the years due to increased skin laxity, gravity, and the aftereffects of pregnancy. A breast lift will remove excess skin and reposition the breasts to a more youthful position. It can also correct breast asymmetry and reposition sagging or down-pointed nipples.

Most patients can return to work within two weeks after their operation but should avoid vigorous exercise for up to six weeks.

The results of breast lift surgery can last for many years. However, this procedure cannot stop new sagging or skin laxity from developing in the decades to come.

Breast Reduction

Breast reduction surgery reduces the size and weight of your breasts and recontours them to meet your goals. Some women choose to reduce their breast size due to physical conditions like back pain or to have a breast size that is more in proportion to their bodies. A breast reduction can remove unwanted fat, glandular tissue, and skin. It can also adjust your breast contours to treat asymmetry.

Most patients can return to work within two to three weeks of their breast reduction, but vigorous exercise should be avoided for at least six weeks. Talk with your plastic surgeon before resuming high-impact exercises.

The results of a breast reduction are usually long lasting or permanent. Some patients’ breasts may grow larger if they gain weight or become pregnant after their breast reduction.

Breast Implant Rupture Surgery

Breast implant rupture surgery is performed to address ruptured breast implants, and various techniques can be used. For most patients, this surgery will include removing the damaged implant and replacing it. Some patients choose not to replace their implants, and they may wish to combine a breast lift with their implant removal to tighten their breast tissues.

Most patients will need to take at least one week off work to recover after correcting a ruptured implant. Full recovery usually takes about six weeks.

Breast Implant Exchange

Breast implant exchange can replace old or damaged breast implants, change implant placement, and improve the overall appearance of the breasts. Breast implants may need replacement due to rupture, the implant moving or rotating within the breast pocket, or other complications. However, many women choose to replace their breast implants for cosmetic reasons such as a new size or changing to silicone from saline.

Patients can usually return to work within one week of their implant exchange surgery.

Similar to breast augmentation, the results of a breast implant exchange procedure are intended to be long lasting. However, the implants may need to be replaced at some point during a patient’s lifetime.

Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation surgery increases the volume of the breasts and adjusts their shape by inserting saline or silicone implants. Breast implants may be placed above or below the chest muscles to form the desired contours. Patients will have the opportunity to help select the size, shape, and material of their breast implants in this highly customized cosmetic procedure.

Most patients return to work at about one week after their surgery, but they should avoid vigorous exercise for at least six weeks.

Breast implants are intended to provide long-lasting results, but they are not considered lifetime devices.

Can I Combine My Breast Surgery With Other Cosmetic Procedures?

Cosmetic breast procedures can have a dramatic impact on your appearance but may not address all cosmetic concerns. If you are interested in plastic surgery procedures that address other areas, visit our body procedures page or face procedures page for more information.
