One region of the body that people are often conscious about is their thighs. Due to a combination of fat accumulation and sagging skin, the thighs can develop wrinkles and folds that look unattractive. To restore a more toned and aesthetically pleasing appearance, Dr. George Alexander performs the thigh lift procedure in the safety of a certified state-of-the-art surgical center.
What is Thigh Lift Surgery?
A thigh lift is a surgical procedure designed to improve the appearance of the upper area of the legs by removing excess skin and fat tissue. The procedure can be performed on its own or in conjunction with other body contouring procedures, such as liposuction or a tummy tuck.
A thigh lift is an ideal procedure for those who have the following conditions in the thighs:
- Sagging skin
- Localized fat deposits
- Stretch marks
- Difficulty wearing clothing
Candidates for Thigh Lift Surgery
Good candidates for thigh lift surgery are individuals who are at least 18 years of age, in good overall health, do not smoke, and feel that their thighs look unattractive. Although thigh lift surgery is very effective at improving the upper portion of the legs, patients should have realistic expectations about the outcome of the procedure. Based on the review of the patient’s health history and examination of the thighs, Dr. Alexander will use his two decades of experience to individualize a surgical plan to achieve the desired results.
Thigh Lift Procedure
Thigh lift surgery is performed using general anesthesia. The procedure takes approximately two hours to perform depending on the amount of correction needed. After making incisions on the inner thighs (from the groin and inner thigh region), Dr. Alexander will remove excess fat deposits and sagging skin. Dr. Alexander will then contour the remaining tissues and skin and close the incisions with sutures.
Recovery from Thigh Lift Surgery
In addition to getting plenty of rest, patients may need to apply cold compresses and take prescribed medication to reduce discomfort, swelling, and bruising in the thigh area. Most patients can return to work about a week after surgery, but they should avoid strenuous activities and exercises for at least four to six weeks. Following Dr. Alexander’s specific postoperative instructions will ensure a safe and swift recovery.
Results of Thigh Lift Surgery
Even though the results of thigh lift surgery may not be seen immediately, they will become more apparent as swelling and bruising subside, and the results will continue to improve over the following few weeks and months. The resulting scars on the inner thighs will fade over time. Dr. Alexander strives to provide patients with noticeable, yet natural-looking results that are more attractive and youthful. Most patients are very satisfied with their “new look” and can expect their results to last many years as long as they maintain their weight and follow a healthy lifestyle.
