Breast Implant Sizing: What is the right size?
There are so many options when selecting a breast implant size. At your consultation appointment, Dr. Alexander will give specific recommendations about what type, style, and texture based on your physique. He will also provide you with a small range of implant sizes that he feels will look good and fit your body type. Leaving the patient with their most challenging question… WHAT SIZE DO I CHOSE?
Rethinking Cup Sizes
Most women come into their appointment with a specific cup size in mind. Bra manufacturers do not have a universal size measurement and the cup sizes may vary based on the brand that you buy. Cup size is almost arbitrary when you are talking about implants. So for the time you spend thinking about your breast size, forget about your standard ABC’s, it is all about the double C’s. Plastic surgeons use cubic centimeters which is a more precise measurement of volume when selecting an implant.
Measure Up
Now that we are thinking cc’s, Dr. Alexander will take a full set of measurements and with your goals in mind determine what implant sizes would be best for you. Keep in mind your body is unique. He may recommend a size range between 350cc to 400cc. The same sized implant may look bigger or smaller than your friend’s implants, implants you have seen in photos or online. It is the other factors, like your body frame and stature, which make a cup size look big on one person and smaller on another.
Selecting the Size
Dr. Alexander finds that trying the breast implants on here in the office helps give the patient a realistic perspective of what to expect after surgery. He finds his patients benefit from being able to see their new curves from head to toe and visualize what they would look like in clothes. If you are selecting a saline implant or have one breast slightly larger than the other, Dr. Alexander may determine the exact size at the time of surgery.
