How to: Prevent, Fix & Camouflage Cellulite

Cellulite is a glorified term for collections of fat that expand and push against the connective tissue of your skin, creating the infamous dimpled look. It usually collects in the highest fat prone areas of your body, such as the buttocks, thighs and stomach. When you’re poolside or at the beach, the last thing you want to worry about is cellulite. But don’t let dimply skin keep you from slipping on your swimsuit. Instead, read the tips below to learn how to camouflage cellulite.

Understand It – Cellulite is typically genetic. If your mother or direct family member has it, learn what you can do to avoid it or minimize its appearance

Eat a Healthy Diet – A healthy diet plays an important role with not only reducing cellulite, but other unwanted fatty deposits as well. Eat plenty of fiber and whole grain foods. Fibrous foods, as well as fruits and vegetables, help to remove waste and toxins from the intestinal tract. Consuming plenty of water will help remove excess fat stored as cellulite and also strengthen the collagen in your skin to help reduce the lumpy look.

Exercise Regularly – Since cellulite is essentially fat, engaging in physical exercise a several times a week can help remove the cellulite that is contributed by excess weight.

Massage Your Trouble Spot – There are many over the counter products that can help you massage the troubled areas. Some products may help encourage you to massage cellulite, stimulating circulation and breaking up fluids beneath your skin, leaving a more even appearance.

Use an Exfoliator – If you do not want to massage, you may want to try a caffeine-filled body scrub or avocado oil. When used topically, a ground coffee exfoliant, may help break up fatty deposits and tighten the skin. Avocado oil can help hydrate and plump your skin.

Wear Slimming Clothing- Whether or not you’re wearing a swimsuit, form-fitting clothes can highlight cellulite. Try to avoid clothes that are too tight around your troubled area.

Use Self Tanner – Since there’s no cure for cellulite, the quickest fix to camouflage lumpy skin is self-tanner. Slather it on to disguise your dimples in a flash.
